    CLEANING METHOD

    DESCRIPTION

  • Washing with hot soapy water
  • Tools such as brushes, combs and hair rollers can be washed thoroughly with hot soapy water to remove loose hair, dust and dirt.

  • Boiling in water
  • Items of clothing such as towels and gowns should be put in a hot wash cycle reaching at least 95C

  • Disinfectants
  • These are only effective if the manufacturer’s directions are followed. The correct concentrations must be used and the items can only be left in them for the correct amount of time.

  • Sterilisation (wipes and sprays)
  • This kills of all organisms including bacteria and parasites. This works best for metal objects like scissors and clippers.

  • Ultraviolet radiation cabinet
  • Tools must be cleaned before placing in the cabinet. They must then be turned over regularly to expose all surfaces to the ultraviolet rays. The process takes about 20-30mins.
