Customer Evacuation
Unit: Fire and Evacuation Procedures

Customer Evacuation

A salon workspace has added responsibilities in terms of evacuation procedures. As an employee you are not only responsible for yourself and your colleagues’ safety, you are also responsible for the safe evacuation and well being of your clients and customers.

Customer Evacuation

Clients

Clients are to be helped by stylist to the nearest fire exit and on to the designated safe assembly point.

Clients

Wet hair needs to be wrapped in a towel and extra towels need to be taken for warmth. Those undergoing specialist treatments for example pedicures or massages need to be helped in collecting clothes, shoes and dressing as quickly as possible in order to leave the premises.

Water Sprays

Full water sprays need to be taken in case any chemicals (perms or colour treatments) that are being used are nearing their full development time. The water spray scan be used in the event of the chemicals requiring diluting to reduce the concentration and strength of the products..

Client’s valuables

If it does not pose any danger or delay take clients valuable possessions for example handbag or jewellery with them.

Chemical Treatments

Know what type of treatments your clients are undergoing and what stage in timing they have reached at all times. This will be particularly important if a client has started a perm or colour treatment before the evacuation started. These clients will need constant attention at the assembly points.
