USE

Fire extinguishers

There are different types of extinguisher for different types of fire. Each extinguisher is coloured coded to indicate its contents and the type of fire it should be used on. For example electrical or chemical base fires.

Fire blankets

Fire blankets are made of fire resistant material. They are especially useful for wrapping around a person whose clothes are on fire.

Sand

Sand can be used to throw on liquids or chemicals that are a source of a fire in order to soak them up.

Water sprinkler system

A water sprinkler system is normally found in larger commercial properties eg stock rooms or warehouses. They are situated in the ceilings of rooms and discharge water when the effects of a fire have been sensed eg temperature or smoke.
